BIO.

COLD ATLANTIC is the musical project of Jared McCarthy.  Jared was a founding member of the Brooklyn-based band Panama Wedding, where he played guitar, keys, and sang backup.

CA has been Jared’s low-key solo project since 2011.  Under that name, he released several songs produced by Peter Kirk, who went on to form Panama Wedding.  CA also played a number of solo & full band sets around NYC (Rockwood Music Hall, Mercury Lounge, Pete’s Candy Store), often with Kirk.  In 2013, PW released “All of the People” to some unexpected buzz, and Jared shifted his musical energy to that band for the next few years.

After his involvement with PW, Jared continued writing & recording music in his free time, with no intention of releasing any of it. When he moved back to his home state of Maine in 2020 at the height of the pandemic, he was inspired to finally start putting some of his stuff out there. He contacted Jon Markson, a producer he admired from his work with Brothertiger (John Jagos), and soon he was working Jon & John putting together the four songs that ultimately became the Copycat Guitar EP, out now.
